Medellín: A Benchmark in Urban Mobility
Getting around Medellín is easy and enjoyable! With a robust integrated transportation system, including the famous Medellín Metro, cable cars, trams, public bikes, and buses with preferential lanes, you’ll have no trouble reaching the city’s top attractions.
Something very positive is that you can get to almost all the tourist places in Medellín through the metro for only 3,650 COP (about 0.87 USD) per ride in 2024, which is about the same value of a bus ticket.
Sometimes you might need to walk a bit, for example, to reach the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín from Industriales station. Sometimes you’ll need to hop on a cable car to admire 17,000 hectares of natural forest as you head to Arví Park from Acevedo station. Sometimes you’ll have to board the tramway at San Antonio station, in which you’ll appreciate the graffiti, murals, sculptures, and photographs by Colombian artists that adorn over 4 kilometers of the urban art gallery of Calle Ayacucho.

Taxis
¡Pide un taxi ahora!
In Medellín, taxis are yellow and are readily available outside stores or via a landline phone. We recommend always having cash with low denomination bills, as the base fare is around 6,000 COP (about 1.66 COP) in 2024.
For their capacity, quality, and coverage, the main and most reliable taxi companies in the city are Tax Individual, Coopebombas, Flota Bernal, Tax Andaluz, and Tax Super.
Taxis in Medellín have taken over the digital platforms. Therefore, you don’t need to go out to the street to find an available taxi. The main taxi companies in the city have addressed the needs of a much more digital public.
While stopping a taxi on the streets is still a very useful option, now digital platforms such as apps, websites, and WhatsApp lines are useful tools for many travelers and residents of Medellín.
These are the channels that each company has available to request a taxi service:
Paying for your taxi is pretty easy. In addition to cash payment, you can now pay with bank transfers, QR codes, and even credit or debit cards pre-registered in the corresponding platforms for each company.
