Founded in 1842 by 50 prominent families from Medellín’s elite, the San Pedro Cemetery Museum was created as a dedicated resting place for their loved ones. In 1999, it was recognized as a cultural heritage site of Colombia thanks to its rich cultural and artistic significance.

As the most historic cemetery in Medellín, it is home to a stunning collection of European-inspired sculptures and monuments crafted by renowned artists of the time such as Bernardo Vieco, Marco Tobón Mejía, Melitón Rodríguez, and Agustín Goovaerts.
