El Castillo Museum
At El Castillo Museum, history and art blend seamlessly in a stunning medieval Gothic-style building. Opened to the public in 1971, it was once the home of millionaire businessman Diego Echavarría and his wife, who later donated it to the city.
Constructed in 1930 and inspired by the enchanting castles of the Loire Valley in France, El Castillo is recognized as a significant architectural monument in Medellín. Its expansive cypress gardens, brought from Hadrian’s Villa in Italy, further enhance its status as a cultural landmark.
As you explore the museum, you’ll discover a collection of treasures, including porcelain, crystal, stained glass, tapestries, paintings, and unique sculptures. The museum also features art rooms that host concerts, painting classes, dance lessons, and piano instruction. With guided tours and both permanent and temporary exhibitions, your visit will be a captivating historical and cultural experience.
