Mercado SanAlejo a must-see plan in Medellín
Every first Saturday of the month, for more than 40 years, more than 400 people have gathered to offer handicrafts, art, curiosities, antiques and much more in the Mercado de SanAlejo, an unmissable meeting place in Medellín.
Over time, the SanAlejo Artisan Market has become a traditional meeting point for artists, artisans, collectors, small producers, and curious people who visit the space from different places in Colombia and the world, a long-awaited and typical event of Medellín that is part of the intangible heritage of the city.
The Place: Plaza Botero
The 23 sculptures by Botero, the Palacio de la Cultura Rafael Uribe Uribe and the Museum of Antioquia are the temporary hosts of the Market, which since 1972 has always been in Parque Bolívar, but will be in Plaza Botero while the previous one is renewed.
This is an opportunity for those who want to visit one of the most emblematic places of Medellín and at the same time crave diverse crafts.
In El SanAlejo as citizens call it, you can find: Crafts, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, hats, home decor, plants for the garden, clothing and all kinds of memories.
