Repostería Astor
In 1930, the Swiss Enrique Baer opened the Astor Tea Room in Medellin, Colombia, where he had arrived a few years earlier to work as a pastry technician in a chocolate factory.
At the entrance of the establishment, biscuits, almond alfajores, honey nuts, chocolate baskets, biscuits, the famous and traditional “sapito”, and other colorful moritos, named because Don Enrique’s native accent prevented him from pronouncing the sound of the double “r” in Spanish, when he referred to “morritos de bizcocho”.
After more than 88 years-experience, El Astor continues to be a cultural reference of the city, of its transformation and growth, which will continue in the heart of Medellin.
