San Pedro Cemetery Museum
Founded in 1842 by 50 prominent families from Medellín’s elite, the San Pedro Cemetery Museum was created as a dedicated resting place for their loved ones. In 1999, it was recognized as a cultural heritage site of Colombia thanks to its rich cultural and artistic significance.
As the most historic cemetery in Medellín, it is home to a stunning collection of European-inspired sculptures and monuments crafted by renowned artists of the time such as Bernardo Vieco, Marco Tobón Mejía, Melitón Rodríguez, and Agustín Goovaerts. Visitors can explore its beauty and history through guided tours, which also reveal the mysticism and cultural significance that surround this iconic site.
